Look for Love

I saw a few friends post that silence is condoning the hatred that is so abundant today, but more specifically the white supremacy hatred. I don’t think this is true for many of us. I really, honestly am speechless because I just don’t understand. I do not understand that level of hatred period, but definently for someone you have never met. Y’all, I have had exes physically abuse me, verbally abuse me and I still don’t  hate them. Hate is an emotion that controls you. I never want anyone to have the power over me.

I do not understand how you can want someone dead purely based off of their skin color, of which they were born with. How can you hate someone based off of their gender or who they chose to love? How can you hate someone based off of the faith they chose to follow? How can you be so angry with someone for something that doesn’t have anything to do with your life? Sure, we can make the argument of paying taxes or paying for things that you don’t agree with, but, y’all, I don’t agree with some of the traffic laws we vote into place, my money  goes to that, but I do not want to kill anyone over it. Where is this hatred coming from? And why do you think it has anything to do with someone other than yourself.

When I got sober, I had to face the facts that the only person who could change me was me. I had to surrender all the selfish thoughts I had to my higher power. That higher power for me is God. Until I gave him all the power, I was powerless. I am almost 6 years sober and just now starting to understand why I can’t be in control. I am just now starting to see that peace and joy will not come from me. I am just now starting to see that hatred and pure disgust for myself was what was killing me. The alcohol was just a symptom, the hatred is the disease. Evil can come quickly and with a bang, but it can also seep in slowly with no sound. It can creep into you with such ease that you don’t even know it is happening. I believe that all evil is that way. Once it gets hold, it is loud. It is so loud you can’t hear the soft steady hum of love. Evil blinds you, so you can’t see the glow of love.

One thing I that confuses me more than anything is that these Nazis talk about being Christians. I don’t understand that at all. The Bible disputes their very claims. At least 5 times Jesus specifically commanded us to love one another.

John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 15:12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
John 15:17 “These things I command you, that you love one another.

God by His very definition is love.  God sent His only son to die for ALL of us with the very same love that He used to create ALL of us.

But you don’t have to be a Christian to understand this concept of love. Why waste so much time hating others? What do you get from that? What could you possibly enjoy? While I say all this, I still love being alive. I love this world we live in. I see so much beauty and light. I don’t get the people asking for Jesus to come soon. Because by the same token that Jesus commanded us to love, He also commanded us to share that love with everyone. We need all the time we can get to show the love of Christ. Don’t wish the end of times. Instead, use your time here on Earth wisely. Use it to show, demonstrate, feel, spread love.

Let the light of love radiate from you so that the darkness of hate has no chance.
