We are an on the go family. I am happy when Vivienne actually wants to ride in her stroller. We have been using our fancy jogging stroller that our cousins Christopher, Raindi and Piper sent us all the way from Colorado. (We are coming for you this fall Mayos! Vivi’s first plane ride.) I like to take that stroller when we go off-roading because it is easier to push. I keep saying I am going to start running, it might happen now that we moved back to a neighborhood! We went on a walk just this morning before I took her to school. It was fantastic! At the lake house, we lived on a busy road. Of, course I could have gone up and down the hill to the lake, but, um, no way. This morning I took Sophie on the first round and then Wyatt because I couldn’t find his leash. Wyatt gets overly excited about most everything, especially walks. He gets better, but if I jumped on the stroller he could pull us around the road. Maybe that is a great idea, put steering on that thing!
Vivi is use to walking. When I was pregnant, I would walk around our little neighborhood. As she got bigger it turned into a waddle. I remember when I had Sophie (the papillon) and we were slowly making our way down the road. Then I saw my ultra-marathon runner brother gliding towards us. I will never be able to run the way he does. No, really. He ran a 100 race in 26 hours. I do hope to run a 5k without feeling like I will die. Now that I have quit smoking and drinking, that is a real possibility. I love that I am trying to treat my body well. I am attempting a pure life. I choose not to put chemicals, like alcohol and tobacco in my body. I minimize my caffeine intake and maximize my water intake. I still feel like I am working out and tired when I walk a couple of miles with the stroller and puppies, so I have a long way to go. So many people wrongly assume I am fit because I am skinny. That is the farthest thing from the truth. I was only 3 months sober when I found out that I was pregnant.
Both Vivienne and I like to keep moving. The stroller is a great way to accomplish that. We both like to be passengers with people we trust. We love to get out and see what is out there. Sometimes she likes it so much she doesn’t want to get out. Sometimes she wants to get out and run around like a maniac. I don’t blame her for either. Sometimes I don’t want to get out and sometimes I just want to run around! She is my sweet little passenger. I love to imagine what she is thinking. What is happening in that little brain of hers?
Sometimes she is very quite. You can tell she is paying attention and observing. We went with my parents and my brother’s kids to the Tallahassee Museum aka the Jr. Museum. It is an outdoor native Florida animal museum. She just sat back and let her 5-year-old cousin, Benjamin take control of the stroller. I did not have her nice stroller, but that didn’t seem to hold him back! He kept saying, “I think the stroller should be in the front.” Meaning you would get run over if you got in their way. She wasn’t scared one bit. I did have to remind him not to park Vivi by herself. They are so kind and thoughtful to each other. He would point out different things to her and Lucy would peak her head into the stroller to talk to her cousin. I adore our time together as a family. Vivi did get tired of her stroller that day and needed her Oompa to carry her. Which, I understand. Everyone needs their grandfather to carry them.
I love the stroller because I can stash all my stuff as well. I put my water and her snacks on it. I am going to miss it when she decides she is too old for it. It is funny the things we think are punishments when we are young and would love to have when we get older. I would love to have an adult stroller, sure call me lazy. I guess that’s a wheelchair. Just sometimes. I love having the ability to walk and run. I really hope no one takes that the wrong way. Sometimes, I just want to be pushed. I also wish there was a mandatory nap time. I love naps. I don’t have time for naps as an adult. I also feel incredibly lazy, so I don’t do it.
I love our stroller time. It keeps her in one spot and she is happy and contained. It is at least 20 minutes that she is not crying! She loves being ‘ou-hi’ as much as I do. When we walk, I get exercise, too. Plus, it’s free! We love free in this family! In our new neighborhood there are parks and playgrounds that we can walk to. We are excited to explore. There is so much to see. I always take my phone, just in case. It also has my phone and maps just in case I get lost! Life is all about balance. I like to make sure we get a little bit of everything into our week. That is the great thing about being a toddler. You don’t have to make the big decisions. You get to be the passenger as your parents plan fabulous activities for you.
