Springing Forward with Vivienne

My baby loves outside. She insists on being outside as much as she can. (I admit, I have a hard time telling her no, still.) Every day, when we come home from school, we let the little one out (Sophie)  and feed the big one (Wyatt) then we head to the yard! This weekend was destined to be great! North Florida, in my humble opinion, has great weather! However, I love to be on the water! So, that being said, I like it hot! We had it in the 70’s all weekend! Amazing! We started the weekend off with dinner with the in-laws She is a challenge to get interested in dinner and to sit still. She HATES being told no. She had to go run around outside and get carried out a couple of times, but it is a learning game for all of us. …but we had ICE CREAM! I LOVE ICE CREAM! I love all kinds of ice cream, but specifically the fresh, mixed on a cold slab ice cream. I really didn’t eat dinner. I really didn’t feel all that well, but I can always eat ice cream. You will know I am dying if I say no to ice cream. Vivi likes ice cream, too. Her Nana, Travis’ mom, let her have her chocolate cone. Yep, a little messy, but hey, it didn’t matter if she got it everywhere. It is about the experience. I think she was more proud that she has the cone than she wanted to eat it. Or maybe she want more bites of my salted caramel with brownie and maraschino cherries!

Saturday was a little cold in the morning, but that didn’t stop my Viv! She was ready to get outside as soon as we finished breakfast. We put on a hoodie and her moose hat. She picked out a bow, too! I put the bow on the moose hat. Only made sense. She almost sprinted down the hill, but I was able to redirect. (I really wasn’t in the mood to push the swing just yet.) She walked over to her wagon. It was full of water. This greatly upset her, like last time. I keep forgetting to wheel it in! Daddy came out and dumped it. That was even worse! She started sobbing! It was horrible! I am really not sure why that was so upsetting. Weird. Travis got out her Radio Flyer Fire truck. I told him that she couldn’t use that anymore because she wouldn’t put her feet on the pegs. He showed me how to jack her in the air! Dads are clever like that! (We had stood there motionless the last time.) She loves that thing. She is so serious! He is so cute and so proud of her.

Next, it was off to the Tallahassee Museum of Natural Science! It was Vivienne’s 1st trip! She LOVED it! I knew she would! She just loved being outside and seeing the sights of North Florida. She did great riding in the jogging stroller for the first part! She sat straight up ready to go pointing at everything. I love seeing her excited, with a smile on her face! We saw a crazy vulture and a bald eagle. We saw lots of native Floridian animals. She walked part of the way and made friends at passersby. Sometimes she would just stop and stare. (That’s kinda awkward. Don’t mind my kid….) There is a beautiful swap walk through area with dinosaurs made of car parts. That sounds weird when I type that. I guess it is. It is weirdly beautiful. I love cypress trees. They poke up out of the water. They are there with a story to tell. We also swung at the wonderful playground. She LOVES to swing. She tried out both toddler swings. Of course. Who doesn’t do that? Then we went to the Farm Area. That was her favorite part because the animals are closer, or at least that is why I think that was why. She loved the sleeping cow. It took some prompting, but she did say moo! Which is the cutest thing ever. My husband is an expert turkey caller, too. He got the tom all riled up. His tail makes a loud, almost mechanical sound when it puffs up. That was really neat. Overall, it was a very successful trip!

Nana took the pooped punkin with her. I rested a little. Then went outside to enjoy the weather. I took my book down by the lake. I thought I would get busy on the book we are reading for book club. The pups had other ideas. Travis and I went and fed some bass some shiners. (We caught nothing. Not even a hit.) I still wasn’t feeling well at all. I went right to bed. Viv doesn’t quite understand not being able to jump on momma.

Sunday we had a BBQ after church with Travis’ friend with Vivi! She actually napped right after church which was perfect timing! She woke up right in time for us to go! Perfect. Sometimes it works like that. It was wonderful with the time change and all. She was awesome at the BBQ. We took her new bee chair that she had gotten. She loves chairs. She likes her own little space. She wanted little to do with her chair though. She had a lot of exploring to do. Travis’ friend built his daughter a major fort. So of course my little one had to go up and down the stairs. She loves to show everyone how she can scoot her butt down how Ooma and Oompa taught her, those are my parents. She also swept the yard, gathered every ball she could see, went in and out of the house a million times, ate everything ( she is ALWAYS eating kinda like Brad Pitt in Ocean’s 11), interrupted Bache Ball multiple times, crawled under the picnic table often, danced for anyone that would watch, tried to play with the big girls, played with a sweet 6 year-old, read her books, pulled out all of the other children’s books, laughed often, put rocks in gutters, moved her bee chair, sat on other chairs and many other things. I followed queen bee. That is what I do now. I follow. I love it. I know that one say she is going to tell me not to. So I will enjoy it while I can.

I was excited to get home because Travis had made a perfect little Vivienne play area. My parents brought over a turtle sandbox and he set it up while she was napping. He put her slide next to it that her Uncle Eric and Aunt Melissa had given her for her birthday in December. As a special surprise he had also made a concrete “chalk table” for her. He found a piece of concrete and had set it on some blocks. It was adorable and I LOVE it. I know she will, too. We just need to get chalk! How thoughtful?! She loved all of it. We spent a hour just playing in her play area. She was filthy. She looked at me a little perturbed when she dumped sand on her face. Why I was the cause of that, I am not sure. The whole fam just played outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We laughed and loved.

Dad made this pay area for the Vivs, homemade chalk table and all.
