Don’t you DARE pray for me

I kinda hate it when people say they are praying for me now. It is a Southern thing I suppose. Kinda like, “Bless your heart.” They don’t mean it. Especially when someone who doesn’t go to church says they are praying for me. Really? Please. I know. They may have the best of intentions. Here I am judging. To me prayer is personal. You talk about prayer in Sunday School or with friends. When some random person says they are praying for me I feel like it is a put down, like they see something I need praying about. Oh my. Now if that ain’t real I don’t know what is.

I grew up in church. I know the Bible cover to cover. You know how people say they were there every time the doors were open? Well, hunnie, I was there when they were locked. My daddy was a minister. Yep, a PK! You knew something was wrong with me! It’s a joke, sort of. Ok, seriously, God wants us to pray and go to church for a reason. Because we don’t know everything and He does! You know what is wrong with church? It is made up of people! BAM! However, prayer is between you and your God. Your maker, your Father, the one who loves you UNCONDITIONALLY! Whoa.

Church! Stained glass pieces fit together like the people of the church to make one beautiful design.

The sermon this morning was about prayer. He used the common acronym A.C.T.S which I love!

A doration {Praise! Reverent praise!}

C onfession {He already knows, but you need to bring it to Him.}

T hanksgiving {You are breathing, right. Welp, then give thanks.}

S upplication (I had to look that up. “Ask humbly.” Remembering His will.)

Some versus Pastor Rich Kincl at Immanuel Baptist gave: John 15:7, Col. 3, Matt 7:7, Matt 21:22, John 16:24

[Disclaimer: He authorized none of this post. I would hope he liked the last part though!]

I am human. I make mistakes. God knows this. He also knows because I pray about it. I come to the Lord my God in prayer multiple times a day formerly and then I just reach to Him throughout constantly.

Go to church. Jesus told you to. It is where you will grow, worship, fellowship, connect, reach people, serve people and the list doesn’t stop. No church is perfect because no person is perfect. Be active in your spiritual life. Don’t just speak it, act it. I will know you are praying for me by what I see in my life. I pray for you. Don’t use those words as weapons. Love. Love as Christ loved us. We are so undeserving. Yet He died on the cross for us. Remember that.
